There is still a fair amount of interest in ice roads, so here are a few photos.
Here’s the windshield view heading west from Prudhoe. This is a nice day. The smudges and black spots aren’t UFOs or a dirty camera lens, they’re chips in the windshield.
Different road. Heading north on the ice to an exploration drill site. I think that this is Oooguruk, but not sure.
The Oooguruk drill site during construction. The road is pretty indistinct here. We’re following the truck rig left of center in the photo. At this point we’re about 3 miles offshore, driving on about 14 feet of ice.
